Environmental Affairs Manager
Houston, TX
Tim Gibson has long been an advocate for Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary within the energy exploration and production community.
As industry co-chair for the annual Industry Government Exchange, he is proactive in facilitating communication and understanding between government and industry. His easy going manner puts people at ease, enhancing cooperation even among occasional adversaries.
Tim has also gone above and beyond the call of duty in filling his role as a founding member of the Sanctuary Advisory Council, representing Oil & Gas Industry. Not content to just warm a seat, he volunteered to serve on the Visitor Use Working Group to identify issues and develop recommen-dations for how to address them. He actively participated in a variety of other workshops, as well, including those not directly related to his particular seat.
Tim can always be counted upon to help staff major sanctuary events, such as NOAA Ocean Discovery Day.

Even when he is volunteering for a different group Tim's efforts benefit our ocean and the sanctuary. For many years he has recruited and organized a large group of his co-workers to pick up trash during Clean Galveston's annual beach cleanup, thereby reducing the amount of harmful marine debris entering the Gulf of Mexico.
